Think Tank: Humans of Life Row

(2024, collaborative installation) Think Tank Timeline: Humans of Life Row  is a collaboration with participants from the Prison + Neighborhood Arts Project residing in Stateville Correctional Center. Students participated in multiple workshops to devise and research the content for an immersive timeline marking histories, personal and political, that shape our lives and the structures of mass incarceration. Personal narratives, intertwined with national and local events—tell the story of the humans of life row. Each small marker on the timeline is enormous in reality, representing lives changed and ripple effects that continue to the present moment.

Timeline entries included significant formative personal events, national and state legislation, historical and social events, government statistics, and acts of resistance and organizing.

Created by Lucky Pierre (Kevin Kaempf, Michael Thomas, Mary Zerkel) with Daniel Perkins and the P+NAP Think Tank (Michael Bell, Reginald Boclair, Raul Dorado, Darrell Fair, Antonio “TK” Kendrick, Darnell Lane, Juan Luna, Jerel Matthews, Daniel Perkins, Steven Ramirez, Lonnie Smith, Michael Sullivan, Johnny Taylor, Decedrick Walker, and Eric Watkins)
